Joining the credit union is the best decision you could make for your money.

A credit union is a financial co-operative, owned and controlled by the members who use its services. It is operated on a not-for-profit, mutual basis with all resources owned by the members.

Membership of An Post Employees' Credit Union is open to those who have made their livelihood from the postal service and their wider families. This means current employees of An Post, former employees, An Post pensioners, and in relation to all three groups their spouses, sons, daughters, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and parents once they live on the island of Ireland.

Membership is also open to Postmasters and their post office assistants and to employees of companies where An Post has a shareholding, including Post Insurance, PCI, Premier National Lotteries, Data Ireland and PrintPost.

Becoming a member?

Joining is easy. To become a member you will need to complete a Membership Application Form (which you can download by clicking on the link below) and forward it to the credit union office along with following documents:

  1. Photo ID - a good photocopy of your passport or driver's licence.
  2. Proof of address - an original utility bill/ bank statement/ tax certificate/ address side of An Post payslip.
  3. Proof of your PPS No. - a copy of tax/ HSE correspondence , your payslip or Public Service Card.

Members can take out flexible loans after joining, and repay at tailor-made schedules. An interest rebate is usually paid at year-end, reducing the cost of the loan even further.

Attractive dividend on savings

Every year an attractive dividend on members savings is paid.

Generous insurance benefits at no direct cost to the member

Loan protection insurance, life savings insurance that pays a generous benefit based on your shares and death benefit insurance are provided from the general resources of the credit union

User-friendly payment services

Electronic payments are offered both into and out of the credit union, with each member having a BIC and IBAN code. Fund transfers and bill payments can be made using this web site.

Quality service, no fees

You can be assured of a professional and friendly service from the credit union at all times. You do not pay a transaction fee for saving or borrowing money.

Pay by payroll deduction

An Post employees and pensioners can pay the credit union from their pay/ pension. When setting up or reviewing your deduction, you can specify how much should be paid into your shares, loan, family members etc.

Car draw

The credit union runs a very poplar car draw scheme. A Ford Fiesta and ten cash prizes can be won every two months. A monster draw at Christmas features prizes of a Ford Fiesta, a BMW 318D and forty cash prizes. 100% of draw subscriptions are included in the draw fund!
